Firetail Phoenix[/u]
The Firetail Phoenix’s are known for their startling plumage and ability to withstand heat - A hatchling is comfortable in temperatures of 200 degrees Fahrenheit (About 80 degrees Celsius) and only begins to singe at double that temperature. These birds grow more resistant to heat as they mature, and at adulthood are easily capable of living in temperatures of over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. Another oddity is their feathers, whose colors range from dark red to rich gold. Along their wings, crest, and tail their color varies quite a bit, though usually not too starkly. They are fairly small creatures, the larger ones standing five feet at the shoulder and the smaller only three feet. The bones of a Firetail are hollow and are easily broken, though the lack of weight means flight is a natural action and most dragons won’t notice when perched upon. Though fragile and weak in comparison to their cousins, the dragons, Firetail are widely regarded with respect. Their sharp eyes and inquisitive minds mean that information comes to them easily, and in Pyrallis information is power. Though not necessarily hot-headed, Firetails hold strong grudges and will more often then not spy on the offender in order to obtain secrets that will render their enemy completely helpless at a word – Not a good thing.
Note from Pyral: You must have permission to be this breed of Phoenix.
Chycral Phoenix[/u]
Though not as colorful or renowned as their fiery brethren, the Chycral are beautiful birds indeed – The females usually have white or light blue plumage, while the males are black to dark purple. Every feather is perfect, preened constantly in a genetic vanity. However, one would be truly foolish to think Chycral’s beauty-obsessed and unintelligent – Far more intelligent than the Firetails, these Phoenix are known for their cool, calculating ways…Nothing gets past them without being caught, examined, and then either kept or thrown away. Though externally there may seem nothing wrong, these birds brood in their minds and possess silent anger, never letting emotion show. Smaller, faster, and more invisible than the Firetails, Chycral’s only leave their underground nests at night, when the sun is set and the light doesn’t burn their delicate skin. Because of their mysterious ways and stark coloring, Chycral’s are - misleadingly - associated with Hycroun and are often persecuted by other Pyrallians. Finding themselves unwelcome in the temples of Pyral, Chycral’s are sometimes forced to do exactly as suspected and worship the dark goddess. A forbidden practice, yes, but the only one they truly know or are allowed to know.
