Character Name: Kordymi
Species: Wouldn't you like to know... Erm, actually, goddess, I think.
Age: Ageless. BWAhahahaaa!
Gender: Female, traditionally.
Description:
Traditional Form
Ivory fire, blazing white hot, burns within her chest like the heart of any blaze, though no blue touches it. Indeed, it's flickering is very like a heart, one half at a time, moving with a steady rhythm, expanding and contracting- mezmerising to watch. Spreading outwards, saffron flames lick around the form of something between a bird and a human, lithe and graceful. Crimson marks the tips of spreading wings which take the place of arms, no feathers or scales evident, or even flesh, just the smooth burning of flames across nothingness, against all logic, without fuel. Upwards from the avian body comes a rather humanoid neck, topped by a humanoid head, something rare and alien to a world where the species has been exctint for millions of years. No mouth is evident, indeed, her speech is mental, when she chooses to speak, which is rarely. And the eyes nearly always closed, for when open they shine with blue life force so bright as to blind a firebird. Around her head, tongues of scarlett serve as hair, leaping merrily and quite beyond her control, they represent the lives of all things- in legend, she is said to pull a tongue of flame from her wings or head to examine the life of a creature...
She is very like a pheonix with vaguely human elements- here is a small version of the picture of her that adorns the temple of Kordymi.
Personality: Nurturing in outlook, all living things fall under her jurisdiction, and she takes care of them seriously. The wise offer her a prayer everyday, for she has the power to affect their lives for better or for worse, and though she worries and cossets, her outlook on them is less than motherly. As a matter of fact, this goddess views them as her pets, creatures that she takes care of, therefor has liscense to collar and tame, and generally do with as she wishes. Despite her appearence, she is patient and cool-tempered, but flighty, and enjoys nothing more than a game of 'fates of mortals' with her 'pets'. Many tragic ballads come from the goddess beginning to meddle in a mortal's life, or help them achieve their dream, then losing interest halfway through. Mistfortune is blamed as often on 'Fickle Kordymi' as it is on Hycroun's anger or games.
However, if another god or goddess tries to interfere, or even if a mortal is in danger by some other force, she becomes fiercly protective, like a mother dragon, and takes the thing under her wing. Things she is most inclined to protect and nurture until they are ready to let go (and not just until she loses interest) are;
Young/Babies: Kordymi loves these, especially orphans, whom she is rumored to sometimes assume mortal form and protect personally.
Lovers: Particularly star-crossed lovers, she tends only to help them in subtle ways, changing their fortunes bit by bit.
Questers: Likes to appear to them in dreams or guide them, sometimes with magical gifts. Usually, however, assumes the form of a guide or teacher.
Mammals: No one knows why she has a soft spot for the weak little prey creatures, but for some reason...
Bio: **Will type up a legend for the 'birth of Kordymi later**
Greatest Strength: Her powers over living things, her influence, and patience.
Greatest Weakness: Only is as strong as the belief in her- if her believers disappeared, she would die.
Example of Roleplay: It was the first time this decade that the shining cobalt eyes had opened, their living pale light washing over the surroundings or their bearer, contrasting her flaming face. Kordymi was awake. Of course, for her there was no such thing as 'sleep', but she had been in a state of stupor for almost three decades now, neglecting her creatures as they walked the earth. Well, not neglecting, as such, as ignoring. But it wasn't her fault! That was what Kordymi had to believe! After all, goddess could fall victim to the plans of others, right? Right! And surely it was Hycroun who snuck that potion into her mead. Trying to keep her asleep forever.
The sapphire eyes snapped shut. The light was too much for her own vision, and it was time to see to the mortals, anyway. More than time. Restlessly, the goddess flapped her wings, flying into the breeze, and turned to land lightly next to a pool of water. Admittedly, it was an almost nonexistant substance, found only underground, but even pheonix needed it to survive, did they not? It was only fitting the goddess of life and the living should have some. Let us see the damage done in my absence... Though the firey creature, as the waters began to swirl...
