Wypharet thought for a moment, going through a few questions in her mind. She threw out two, because they were ones only the goddess herself could answer. Settling on a rather short one, Wyph was still a little worried that Fyrah, with all of her knowledge, would not be able to answer it.
"Fyrah?" She paused. "Fyrah, does Pyral ever go down to the surface? What I mean to say is, does she talk to people in a form, or something? Walk among her works?"

Pyral flinced mentally, forcing her limbs not to stiffen at the innocent question, for surely such action would alert the dracling that something was amiss. Wypharet was young, but she was by no means foolish. One had to be careful. Recklessness had already earned her lost secrecy on two mortals...She couldn't risk that number becoming three too soon.
"Well, I..." She spoke slowly, thinking every word through carefully. "...I suspect she does, youngling. I don't know, but I suspect it may be so. One can never be sure what the great ones will choose to do..." She spoke with reverence, as though she was a servant to the god herself. That would likely deter her from any thoughts or speculations on 'Fyrah's' behalf. After all - What goddess would grovel like a fyre lizard? It was simply not done.
Still feeling slightly discomfited, Pyral cleared her throat. "Anything more, little one?"

ooc- I'm soooo sorry! Stupid life! -kicks life- Ouch... toe hurts.
bic- Wypharet shook her black head. "No m'am." She bounced up and down, completely unaware of the goddess's discomfort. "What else am I gonna learn?" Wyph spurted out eagerly. Already she was recording the information about Pyral, her maker, in her mind, to be remembered when the time was right. The Hycroun info was long done, and her mind was itching for more.

Pyral smiled, approving and appreciative of the youth's eagerness to learn. "Only one more subject on the Gods for today, Wyph. We mustn’t fill your head with too much of the abstract…Now, you will learn about the goddess who gave life a form in which to live: Kordymi. She is the one who created the plans for the bodies of all that live, and she is the one who molded these bodies from fire and water, though it was Pyral who breathed life into them. She is a powerful goddess, youngling. Second only to Pyral and Hycroun. She is life, and she is the one who protects it...But mind your manners and pay your prayers. She's got a bit of a temper. Us mortals are her pets and playthings – She will break us just as soon as take care of us."
Pyral stretched where she lay on the rock, scales rattling and scraping against the stone as she flexed her slender limbs. A wide yawn. She stood, shaking herself from her crest to tail tip. Sand and dust fell from her golden form, and in the light of the late morning it formed a sparkling yellow cloud around her. And aura, almost. But not quite.
She fell again to the rock, turning her head in such a way there was a small cracking sound. She sighed, contentedly. That crook in her neck had been bugging her...
"Now, before we begin your history lesson, do you have any questions?"

ooc- I be here!!! -gasps for breath-
bic- Wypharet thought for a moment, her head cocked. She couldn't think of anything, but that didn't mean anything, either. She could easily think up something in a few minutes. A dragonfly whizzed by Wyph's head, wings buzzing rythmically. With an almost lazy swipe of her tail, a spike was driven through the center of the small insect, pining it to the stone. It struggled momentarily, then the life went out of it. The little black dragon looked down at her tail and gave a start. She quickly whisked her tailspike out of the insect and wiped it on what little grass there was. Sometimes she did things without knowing. No 'mam, nothing that I can think of... at the moment. A smile came to her features. Go on! -------- Smoak sat brooding at the entrance of his cave, watching the pair from a distance. Things had to be done, and done soon. What the red goddess had predicted would happen was happeing faster than imagined. Dragon had to be seen, deals made. When the time come, it would not be Wypharet and him against the world. There would be some help, and he knew exactly where to go, and who to talk to. The great black drake spread his wings and was up in the air with a quick stroke, and speeding away. --------- Though she was focused on her teacher, a spot of movement caught her eye. Whipping her head around, she turned just fast enough to see a spot of black on the horizon, then it was swallowed by a cloud.

Pyral followed her gaze, turning her head to look in the same direction as her student - she saw nothing but a dust-cloud, whipped around by a stray wind. Something had caught Wyph's eye...But in this form, she couldn't check to see exactly what. She cocked her golden head slightly, her rich red eyes narrowing.
Never mind it. I'll be able to examine it later...
She cleared her throat to catch the younglings attention. "Wypharet...let us begin...From the beginning seems appropriate." She gave a small smile. "It's where legend dies and history begins, pet. The ancients. Then, there were species that do not exist now - 'twas too great a time ago. Dragonkind was small, the largest of us measuring at no more than fifteen fyre-lengths, and the smallest barely one of my scale-lengths." She lifted a claw, rasing an inch-long scale that adorned her foreleg with its tip. "At that time, other kinds were the controlling force - mammals, our dominant food source. Dragonkind was slow of mind, lacking in intelligence and guided by instinct. It was our durability that saved our lives, not brains." She tapped her skull, enforcing her point. "You see, the sky was broken by a particular species of mammal. Studies have shown that their way of life destroyed layers of protection in the air, and left Pyrallis prey to the sun." She gestured at their surroundings with a paw. "This was not always a desert planet. Once, the world was filled with water and plants...Fylegio and Hycroun reined supreme. But, with the sky, their worlds died as well. The mammals at fault became extinct, as did many other kingdoms of creature…but we, Reptilia, survived. Our thick skin did not burn in the sun, and with our main predators, the mammals, gone, be thrived in an increasingly dry world…Or minds had room to grow, as did our homes."
Pyral gave her a half-smile, batting her over the head gently with a wing. "T'was the beginning of Dragonkind, youngling. Believe it or not, at one point in tim our intelligence was rivaled by that of a Fyre lizard."
